Pharmacology is a science that deals with the study of drugs starting
from the source, structure, physical & chemical properties, actions in
health & disease, mechanism of actions, uses & adverse effects. The
students of M.Sc Pharmacology will learn all these divisions of
Pharmacology. In addition they will be trained to evaluate the effects
of drugs in animals, the knowledge of which is mandatory for drug
development.
It is well known that there is deficiency of pharmacology faculty in all
the teaching medical institutions throughout India. More over there is
an increase in the number of medical & para medical colleges- both
government & private. But the number of medical teachers available
is far from adequate. Hence offering M.Sc Pharmacology course will
provide additional faculty to meet this deficiency. In addition after
completion of the course they can be employed in Pharmaceutical
industries for new drug development.
